About The Position

At NOVA Automation, we design and build advanced robotic and automated packaging systems used across the country. We are seeking a hands-on Automation Technician who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys mechanical and electrical challenges, and wants to work directly with cutting-edge automation equipment—both in-house and at customer sites.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in automation, controls, robotics, manufacturing, or industrial equipment service
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Experience with PLC platforms (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), HMIs (FactoryTalk View, Pro-face, PanelBuilder), and industrial robotics (Kawasaki, Yaskawa, KUKA, FANUC)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with VFDs, servos, industrial networks, and automation hardware
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineering and operations teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard diagnostic tools
  • Valid driver’s license required; passport preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and work on or under equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to work in industrial environments with varying conditions
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%
  • Comfortable wearing PPE and following all safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components for new automation systems
  • Set up, power up, and configure robotic and automated control systems
  • Perform system testing using customer products; identify issues and implement corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic programming issues
  • Support internal FATs, QA processes, and commissioning activities
  • Develop familiarity with complex automation lines to support testing, optimization, and modifications
  • Assist with creating and updating system documentation, manuals, and schematics
  • Travel to customer sites to install, test, troubleshoot, and commission automation systems
  • Perform PLC I/O checks and make basic ladder logic edits
  • Support PLC and HMI troubleshooting activities
  • Commission robotic systems and perform robot teaching (positions, frames, and movements)
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace defective mechanical and electrical components
  • Provide operator and maintenance training to customer personnel
  • Meet with customers to assess service needs and deliver appropriate technical solutions
  • Complete detailed field service reports and maintain accurate customer documentation
  • Act as a technical representative of NOVA and deliver exceptional customer service
  • Provide phone-based troubleshooting and remote technical support
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule
  • Assist customers and internal teams with urgent technical issues as needed
