About The Position

The Automation Technician supports safe and efficient food manufacturing operations by maintaining and troubleshooting automated production and packaging systems. This role focuses on PLC-based controls, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement in a regulated, sanitary environment.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electrical, Automation, Controls, or equivalent experience
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to safely perform job duties, follow work instructions, read technical documentation, and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended shifts in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of automation, controls, or industrial electrical experience
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and VFDs

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain automated food processing and high-speed packaging equipment (extruders, dryers, conveying, baggers, cartoners, palletizers)
• Support PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and electrical control systems
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime
• Partner with operations to resolve equipment issues while supporting food safety and sanitation requirements
• Train operators on equipment operation and basic automation concepts
• Maintain PLC/HMI backups, schematics, and equipment documentation
• Support equipment upgrades, startups, and capital projects
