Responsibilities & Qualifications Automation Technician Intern Novelis in Bay Minette, AL has an exciting opportunity to participate in our on-site summer internship. The team is seeking an Electrical Technician intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful work and gain hands-on industry experience. The person in this role will report to the EMRA Leader and will gain experience in Automation Technology in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited 2-year Automation or Mechatronics technology program
  • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer

  • Solid computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Shadow and assist qualified electricians performing the following:
  • Uses Siemens S7-1500F series of PLC for troubleshooting process and equipment related problems through TIA portal.
  • Get acquitted to the utilization of iBA data acquisition system
  • Get to know aluminum process associated with scalper, Pusher Furnaces and rolling mills.
  • Use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment
  • Install, maintain and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment
  • Perform repair and preservation of field, plant and shop for electronic and electrical systems, equipment, and devices
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Plan and prepare work orders or instructions utilizing blueprints, sketches, and drawings
  • Receive training in electrical safety and other electrical/maintenance duties
