About The Position

Bring high-speed manufacturing to life as our Automation & Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Onsite Job Fair: January 22nd, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm 1400 North Goodman Street, Rochester, NY 14609 Step onto a production floor where precision and pace go hand-in-hand. As part of a cross-functional maintenance group supporting a global eye health leader, you’ll keep sophisticated lines running, partner closely with Operations Technicians and Engineers, and help ensure every shift meets its output goals. A day in the life You start by reviewing the previous shift’s notes and planning preventive maintenance to prevent recurring faults. When an alarm hits, you dive into mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems—reading prints, tracing I/O, checking PLC/HMI behavior, and documenting findings. Between events, you collaborate on line improvements, assist with offline rebuilds, and communicate status clearly to the next team and your Plant Maintenance Supervisor. Shifts and schedule Two 12-hour options with built-in overtime and regular days off: Rotating Day/Night Shift: Week 1: Mon/Tues (6 AM–6 PM), Fri/Sat/Sun (6 PM–6 AM) Week 2: Wed/Thurs (6 AM–6 PM) Straight Night Shift: 6 PM–6 AM, following a 2-2-3 schedule If the night shift fits your lifestyle and being a part of a global vision care company interests you, we want to meet you!

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical apprenticeship or Associate’s in a related electrical or mechanical field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience may substitute.
  • At least 2 years in a technician role performing equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical prints required.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and advanced troubleshooting skills.

  • Basic Computer Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized skills Knowledge of OSHA requirements and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
  • Documentation experience in medical device or other regulated industries is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Additional capabilities Understanding of cGMP and experience in clean room environments preferred.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience desirable.
  • Experience programming/troubleshooting robots (SCARA, FANUC, Staubli, IAI) and servo systems desirable.
  • Exposure to injection molding machines (electric and hydraulic) desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations Technicians and Engineers to minimize downtime and improve line output in a cross-functional setting.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and thoroughly document equipment issues across electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose PLC/HMI control software behavior when possible and restore stable operation.
  • Perform and record preventive maintenance at required intervals.
  • Communicate downtime and machine status to other shifts and supervisor/management.
  • Assist with offline machine rebuilds and prep work.
  • Support plant manufacturing equipment systems under the direction of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ability to work Bausch + Lomb twelve hour rotational shift schedule is required.
  • Minimal travel may be required to support equipment build/integration and/or training.
