About The Position

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems. Job Summary The Automation Estimator will be responsible for the accurate pricing of controls materials, systems, and services for a complete and functional building automation system. Direct responsibilities will include determine costs, analyze customer requirements, and formulate quotation strategies.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering or HVAC experience.
  • 2 + years’ experience estimating/selling in commercial building automation/HVAC.
  • Overall broad understanding of all types of Mechanical systems (Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, etc.) and HVAC Controls Systems, including building automation network architecture.
  • Capable of communicating effectively with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with energy management solutions.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as capable of learning and managing internal proprietary systems.
  • Strong technical writing skills, ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans is required for success.
  • The ideal candidate should possess strong attention to detail and excellent teamwork.
  • Must be a self-starter who can effectively prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • This position requires strong negotiating and organizational skills, the ability to perform detailed work in a timely manner, follow up through order closure, and management of the order throughout the manufacturing process.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC Take-Off estimating experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Can determine costs associated with large scale mechanical project without the use of drawing, plans or specifications.
  • Understand and have a working knowledge of various codes (Mechanical Code and local municipal codes).
  • Understand and have a working knowledge of Title 24 and OSHPD requirements.
  • Have a working knowledge of BACnet, LON, and Modbus networks and their architecture.
  • Actively gather and disseminate market intelligence for each estimate by talking directly with the buyer, the end user, vendors, and other sources of information.
  • When available, interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements as the basis of formulating quotation strategies.
  • Ability to work with Estimating, Engineering and Sales Departments to analyze customer requirements and develop a winning strategy for every quotation.
  • Identify optimum cost/availability of materials acceptable to the customer and prepare material and labor estimates used in the quotation process.
  • Learn to effectively utilize all estimating documentation and electronic programs in preparation of the bill of material and labor estimate for all quotations.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks efficiently and meeting deadlines.
