About The Position

The Automation Engineer designs, develops, implements, and operates automated solutions that streamline enterprise systems, improve reliability, and reduce operational overhead across TPx's technology landscape. This role is accountable for end-to-end automation delivery--spanning process automation, system integrations, and platform orchestration--while embedding automated validation to ensure consistent, predictable outcomes. Reporting to the Director of IT Solutions, the Automation Engineer partners with application, platform, infrastructure, and business teams to identify automation opportunities, implement scalable solutions, and continuously optimize automated workflows across SaaS, cloud, and enterprise environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in automation engineering, systems engineering, or software development with an automation-first mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end automation solutions, from design through production support.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills with experience building reliable, maintainable automation code.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and drive work to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments; familiarity with Waterfall methodologies a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort collaborating across technical and business teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience automating enterprise SaaS platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow.
  • Experience with automation frameworks, orchestration tools, and workflow engines.
  • Strong API integration and automation experience.
  • Hands-on experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Working knowledge of SQL or other query languages for validation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using Jira or similar tools for work tracking and issue management.
  • Exposure to PLCs, robotics, or industrial automation concepts a plus (where applicable).
  • Relevant automation, cloud, or platform certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop automation solutions--including scripts, services, workflows, and integrations--that eliminate repetitive manual work.
  • Write and maintain production-grade code that executes automated processes and controls system interactions across enterprise platforms.
  • Implement, deploy, and manage automation tooling within SaaS, cloud, and on-prem environments.
  • Build automated validation into workflows to verify data integrity, system behavior, access controls, and end-to-end outcomes.
  • Test and monitor automated systems, troubleshoot failures, and ensure long-term reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams--including software, platform, infrastructure, mechanical, and electrical disciplines where applicable--to translate requirements into effective automation solutions.
  • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) to support continuous delivery and operational guardrails.
  • Analyze automation performance metrics and continuously improve efficiency, coverage, and resilience.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, setting technical direction and execution priorities for assigned automation initiatives.
  • Proactively identify automation opportunities across IT operations, application delivery, and business processes.
  • Partner with platform owners and administrators to ensure automation aligns with governance, security, and configuration standards.
  • Maintain environment consistency (sandboxes, staging, production) to support reliable automation execution.
  • Contribute to shared automation frameworks, reusable components, and organizational best practices.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and failure patterns through automated monitoring and recommend improvements.
  • Support automation of authentication, authorization, and SSO integrations (OAuth, SAML) where applicable.
