Our client is seeking an Automation Engineer in Ramsey, NJ to support manufacturing operations by designing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in control system design and programming
  • Recent hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Wonderware/GE iFix SCADA systems
  • Proficiency with PLC and SCADA advanced functions such as recipe handling, analog data, scripting, and database interfacing
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with cGMP procedures and quality compliance requirements
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction and teamwork
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work under deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and commission Allen Bradley PLC (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and PLC-5) control system applications using RSLogix, including advanced functionality such as analog data handling, recipe management, and data exchanges.
  • Develop, test, and commission SCADA applications using Wonderware and/or GE iFix, including scripting, security configuration, recipe setup, database interfacing, and report configuration.
  • Specify, purchase, and troubleshoot control system hardware and instrumentation, including field- and panel-mounted devices.
  • Read, understand, and develop control system design documentation, including Functional Specifications, User Manuals, Sequence of Operations, and engineering reports.
  • Review and approve control system design drawings, including P&IDs, control schematics, panel layouts, and interconnect drawings.
  • Follow cGMP procedures and practices in control system development and modifications.
  • Set up, configure, and test computers with hardware and software integral to control system designs.
  • Build strong customer relationships, providing commissioning, training, validation, warranty, and service support as required.
  • Develop PC-based relational databases, SQL data transfer, and database reporting tools.
  • Integrate thin client and virtualization technologies into control system solutions.
  • Develop and execute software test protocols and simulation code for testing purposes.
  • Work as a collaborative member of project teams to deliver automation solutions on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams, including CAD groups, and assist sales with pre-sales support, specifications review, and quotations.
  • Inspect, test, and release control panels from outside vendors.
  • Travel overnight (~10%) to customer sites for commissioning, training, validation, and service support.
  • Remain current with emerging industry standards and products in software, instrumentation, and control system hardware.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
