About The Position

As an Automation Engineer within our Engineering, Automation, and Technology Support team, you’ll enhance the operations of the R&D sites located in Massachusetts by creating the data architectures of the future and developing the tools that enable the scientists to focus on the science. ¿Ready to get started? Sanofi is looking for a highly motivated Automation Engineer to join the R&D Automation team. Reporting to the Automation Associate Director, this position is responsible for providing day to day and project-based automation support for both cGMP and non-GMP groups within the R&D organization located in Massachusetts. Project work includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical manufacturing operations. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for using expertise to design innovative solutions. These solutions span the areas of automation systems, data historians, IoT devices, etc. with a key focus on pushing new boundaries of Digital 4.0. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or related discipline
  • 2 to 5 years of Automation experience
  • Experience with multiple controls systems - Rockwell, DeltaV, Ignition
  • Knowledge of data historians including OSI PI
  • Knowledge of bus technologies and Instrumentation
  • Knowledge of virtual infrastructures, including patching
  • Strong computer and IT/OT knowledge including equipment networking and connectivity expertise
  • Proficiency with communication protocols such as OPC/OPC-UA
  • Understanding of equipment connectivity, from connecting the instrument into the control network, all the way through to the digital dashboard display
  • Solid general engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and be accountable
  • An innate curiosity to drive continuous learning and innovation

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to project work that includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical manufacturing operations.
  • Work as an integral part of the Automation team to design, architect, troubleshoot, and deliver future enhancements for automation related systems.
  • Provide technical support and maintenance of the automation systems for multiple R&D facilities within the Framingham campus and Waltham locations.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of process automation related design challenges.
  • Create data architectures to capture time-series data and create dashboards for easy data analysis, visualization, and remote operation.
