About The Position

JOB SUMMARY The Controls Build Electrician II is responsible for panel building, wiring, plumbing, debugging, shipping and installations. This position requires strong electrical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work independently and in a team setting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform tasks such as drilling, tapping holes, mounting wireways and DIN rails, and wiring components. Create cutouts and knockouts for enclosures. Manage the job parts shelf, ensuring all necessary components are received. Keep the drawing packet updated with the latest revisions. Communicate essential project changes with the job leader, engineers, and other team members. Collaborate to determine optimal device placement on machines, including I/O blocks, valve banks, RFID readers, and junction boxes. Assist in planning efficient cable routing from external devices to main enclosures. Identify and execute optimal wiring and plumbing paths for sub-assemblies. Prioritize tasks to efficiently wire and plumb machines. Work with engineers, builders, and production personnel to resolve wiring or assembly issues. Follow correct power-up procedures. Support debugging with engineering and mechanical build teams to ensure proper machine operation. Disassemble and package components for shipping. Engrave ID tags and label panels, enclosures, and other components. Observe safety procedures. OTHER DUTIES Maintain a clean orderly work area Any other task assigned by management within scope of position, federal and state regulations.

Requirements

  • High School degree or GED
  • 2 or more years’ experience as an electrician in the automation industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical components, wiring methods, and panel assembly techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, UL).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic electrical fundamentals.
  • Ability to use the basic functions of a multi meter.
  • Time management.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic math: add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, percentages
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment is primarily performed indoors around moving mechanical parts at a moderate noise level.
  • Regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock
  • Occasionally perform work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Wear safety equipment, including proper PPE.
  • Travel up to 30% of time for project installations, domestic and international.
