About The Position

Collaborates with an energetic team of professionals driven to provide efficient manufacturing solutions. These solutions support our production team and range from simple fixtures to fully automated robotic cells. The Automation Control Engineer focuses on the controls of the system while collaborating with mechanical, vision, and validation. The automation team designs and develops the systems for manufacturing our products, for improving current manufacturing, as well as, systems for new product development. Mechanical: Collaborates with the automation team to determine project direction Provides designs that ensure operator safety Collaborates on designs, assembles, and tests: fixtures, robotic cells, and end-of-arm tooling Designs schematic and electrical panel layout Troubleshoots and improves existing equipment when necessary Performs research, analysis, design and development of lean manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment for new and existing projects Supports Manufacturing and Production staff to solve technical, quality, and production problems to ensure consistent product flow, and make recommendations to senior staff and/or managers to improve production processes Electrical and Pneumatic: Designs electrical and pneumatic circuits which ensure operator safety Creates electrical and pneumatic component bill of materials Supports wiring electrical panels and equipment / Plumbs pneumatic circuits and equipment Troubleshoots and improves existing equipment's control system Software Programs PLCs, HMIs, Robots as well as SCADA and vision systems Uses SolidWorks to design 3D models and create 2D drawings when necessary Uses Visio to design electrical and pneumatic schematics Uses an ERP system to enter hours and requisitions, complete repair requests Uses Microsoft Office for project documentation Documentation Creates Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), Product Specific Operating Procedures (PSOPs), and standard training documents Trains personnel on SOPs and PSOPs Education and Experience Required Bachelor's degree in engineering OR Technical degree in engineering and 3 years related equivalent education/experience OR 10 years experience in Robotics and Automated Equipment Desired PLC programming Pneumatic and electrical schematic reading and creation Pneumatic valve and cylinder sizing Solidworks experience Project management Fabrication, plumbing, and wiring skills Programming experience with Omron, Denso, ABB, Allen Bradley, InduSoft, IMPACT, Cognex Competencies Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language Ability to communicate clearly by conveying and receiving ideas, information and direction effectively Ability to demonstrate adequate job knowledge to deliver a world class performance Ability to challenge oneself to consistently meet all goals and deadlines Willingness to strive for excellence by producing work that is free of errors and mistakes Desire to delight both customers and coworkers by offering encouragement, fostering teamwork and addressing conflict appropriately Commitment to making improvements company wide Demonstrated competence using Microsoft Office Demonstrated ability with measurement tools Well developed organizational and time-management skills Knowledge of robotic programming and operations Knowledge of manual machine tools Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, resource management, systems integration and production equipment principles and application Demonstrated problem solving, creative thinking and abstract reasoning skills with complex projects EEO Statement All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran, disability, or any other status protected by state or federal law. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering OR
  • Technical degree in engineering and 3 years related equivalent education/experience OR
  • 10 years experience in Robotics and Automated Equipment
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Ability to communicate clearly by conveying and receiving ideas, information and direction effectively
  • Ability to demonstrate adequate job knowledge to deliver a world class performance
