About The Position

Automation Controls Engineer II Position Summary: BioFire Defense, LLC. is seeking a qualified, motivated Automation Controls Engineer to join our team. This individual provides technical support for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the site's automation and process control infrastructure. The Engineer implements improvements in systems capabilities that will increase the ability to meet customer needs and strengthen business competitiveness. You will work closely with the Manufacturing and Technical resources, operators, and mechanics to understand the business, site and user needs and priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Automation/Controls Engineering.
  • 4-6 years of experience in automation/controls engineering
  • PLC, HMI programming experience preferred (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
  • Understanding of industrial protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
  • Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions, have strong problem-solving skills, and have good verbal/written communication skills.
  • Results oriented and proven ability to work effectively on own initiative and contribute within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office software including MS Word and Excel.
  • Able to safely lift 50 pounds.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a medical device clean manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python , C/C++, or Shell is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that automation systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with cGMP requirements.
  • Implement & Commission: Oversee on-site installation, test system functionality, execute thorough validation protocols to test automation system functionality.
  • Maintain and Optimize: monitor, troubleshoot, continuously evaluate and update high throughput automation systems for efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate automated solutions seamlessly.
  • Drive improvement projects and participate in investigations of product non-conformance.
  • Document processes and system configurations, enabling easier future modifications.
  • Support efforts to integrate automated equipment with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and SCADA control and data acquisition system interfaces such as Ignition.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security clearance.
