About The Position

Plan, layout, install, maintain, program, and trouble shoot electrical equipment and electronic controls. This includes PLC's and motion control devices. The automation and controls technician will also perform mechanical tasks associated with the above situations. Create specifications for electrical systems and wiring diagrams for associated automation controls system and equipment. The automation technician must be able to create new code on their own to control computerized systems and robotic devices. The automation and controls technician must be able program using various programming languages including but not limited to PLC Ladder Logic and Visual Basic. Work from complicated drawings, specifications, or wiring diagrams and have a hands-on knowledge of electricity and electronics. This person also must be able to work without drawings and create such drawings when necessary for project work. The technician must keep current with new developments in their respective field. Required to direct the work of helpers, instruct plant emergency response members. The person in this position will adhere to all facility safety guidelines and encourage communication and participation of personnel to further identify and reduce/eliminate potential hazards. Constant care is required to prevent injury to others. All work must be performed in accordance with National Electrical Code Requirements. Adhere to and support all facility environmental guidelines and procedures to identify additional pollution prevention projects to reduce waste and utility consumption. The incumbent will also be responsible for organization and cleanliness of the work area, and will support and abide by all procedures set forth to assure product and process quality and plant manufacturing principles

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a maintenance electronics technician and/or controls in a manufacturing environment and must have proficiency with PLC and other electronics equipment.
