About The Position

The Auto Mechanic/Vocational Coach is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of all agency vehicles and powered equipment. This position performs preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and COA standards, while maintaining a clean, organized, and well-equipped shop environment. This individual will work closely with the fleet scheduling team to ensure repairs are identified and completed in a timely manner for transports. This role also includes serving as a Vocational Coach to mentor, supervise, and train at-risk youth in daily work-related tasks, as well as in areas such as interpersonal relationships, responsibility, and work habits.

Requirements

• An individual with strong convictions who is also in agreement with Josiah White’s mission statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One to three years of previous experience in the auto mechanics field is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs on vehicles, lawn equipment, and shop equipment.
• Service, inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles and powered equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards.
• Operate and maintain a variety of equipment, including backhoes, tractors, lawn equipment, dump trucks, forklifts, and related machinery.
• Maintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, and supplies required for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Safely handle, store, and dispose of chemicals, fuels, and hazardous materials in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Keep the maintenance shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times.
• Assist with seasonal and operational needs, including snow removal and related tasks.
• Serve as a Vocational Coach to mentor, supervise, and train student interns.
