About The Position

Whitley Penn, a leading CPA and Consulting firm, is looking for an Audit Resource Manager to join our team. The Audit Resource Manager is responsible for overseeing audit staffing, resource planning, and capacity management across the Audit & Assurance practice. This role partners closely with audit partners and managers to ensure the right people are assigned to the right engagements at the right time, balancing client needs, employee development, and firm profitability. The Audit Resource Manager plays a critical role in managing busy season demands, forecasting resource needs, and improving overall utilization and engagement execution. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting, audit operations, resource management, workforce planning, or scheduling within a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using resource management or scheduling tools preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency and experience with Dayshape preferred.
  • Understanding of public accounting audit structures, engagement lifecycle, and busy season dynamics preferred.
  • Prior external audit experience in public accounting preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-office or multi-market audit practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end audit staffing process, including engagement assignments for interns, associates, and senior associates across multiple offices or markets.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term resource plans to support audit engagements, peak busy seasons, and firm growth.
  • Proactively identify resource gaps, over-allocations, and underutilization; recommend and implement solutions.
  • Partner with audit leadership to forecast hiring needs and seasonal staffing requirements.
