The DSS Accountability Office (DSS-AO) is responsible for protecting the integrity of social services programs administered by the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) and ensuring that DSS complies with all statutory, regulatory, and contractual standards. The Office of Audit Services (OAS) is responsible for the assessment of operational risk within the Agency and the coordination of the risk assessment process to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of HRA operations. Within OAS, the External Audit Facilitation Team (EAFT) provides risk assessment and an independent appraisal of HRA's functions. EAFT performs audits, reviews, and analyses to determine the adequacy of the Agency's internal controls; evaluates the Agency's compliance with relevant laws, rules, and regulations; determines the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Agency's processes; and assesses the accuracy, validity, and integrity of information provided to management.
