Yearlong externship Job Summary While this is a year-long learning experience, externs are expected to arrive with a solid ability to execute the standard audiometric test battery and basic skills in hearing aid troubleshooting, programming, earmold impression and fitting. Qualifications Over the course of the externship, externs will be expected to achieve mastery of administration and interpretation in the following diagnostic areas: Pure tone and speech audiometry, tympanometry/acoustic reflexes, otoacoustic emissions, adult ABR,VNG, VEMP, Epley. Externs will also need to develop independence and mastery of the hearing aid evaluation and fitting process from assessment of patient needs and the appropriate selection of amplification through fitting, counseling, adjustment and follow up. Externs are expected to demonstrate good communication skills and a strong work ethic with ahigh degree of professionalism in interactions with patients and staff.
