About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Audio Visual Installer & Event AV Technician who can both install AV systems and operate them during live events. This role is ideal for a technically strong, hands-on professional who understands system design, execution, and real-world event performance. The ideal candidate doesn't just install equipment - they take ownership of the full lifecycle: installation, testing, live operation, training end users, and creating clear documentation/manuals for ongoing use.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of AV installation or live event production experience
  • Strong understanding of signal flow (audio, video, networking)
  • Experience with digital mixing consoles
  • Ability to read and interpret AV schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure
  • Professional demeanor when working with clients
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends (event-based work)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS)
  • Dante audio networking experience
  • Knowledge of basic networking principles
  • CTS certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience creating technical documentation or SOPs

Responsibilities

  • AV Installation & System Setup Install, wire, configure, and commission audio, video, and lighting systems
  • Mount displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, control systems, and networking components
  • Terminate and label cabling (XLR, DMX, HDMI, CAT6, speaker cable, etc.)
  • Program and configure control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, or similar preferred)
  • Ensure clean rack builds and professional cable management
  • Test and troubleshoot systems prior to handoff
  • Operate installed AV systems during events
  • Manage audio mixing for live events (microphones, playback, panels, etc.)
  • Run video switching and projection systems
  • Provide lighting support when required
  • Monitor system performance and resolve issues in real-time
  • Work directly with clients, presenters, and event teams
  • Develop user-friendly system manuals specific to each installed system
  • Create quick-start guides and troubleshooting documents
  • Train internal staff and/or clients on proper system operation
  • Record system configurations and maintain documentation for future servicing
  • Provide recommendations for best practices and system care
