Attorney, Trust Administration Brown & Streza is seeking a highly capable, motivated associate attorney with experience in trust and estate administration.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; a member in good standing of the California Bar
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as an attorney in trust and estate administration
  • Ability to write in a clear, logical, and grammatically correct manner, integrating legal analyses into work
  • Excellent organization, computer skills, and math skills
  • Ability to analyze facts and discovery to apply to statutes and case law on point
  • Ability to verbally present case facts, legal analyses, and recommendations
  • Ability to work independently or with a team

Nice To Haves

  • Completed LLM in Taxation is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Counsel trustees through all phases of the trust administration process
  • Prepare trust administration documents, including documents related to the distribution and allocation of assets among beneficiaries and funding of sub-trusts
  • Gather, inventory, identify, and value trust and estate assets
  • Prepare and/or review trust accountings, estate tax returns, and gift tax returns
  • Draft and file court documents (such as probates, 850 petitions, and 17200 petitions)
  • Oversee court matters from the filing of a petition through receipt of signed court orders
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as necessary to support trust and estate matters
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to ensure efficient case management
  • Communicate directly with clients and advisors
