MADISON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT #38 JOB TITLE: ATTENDANCE SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS: Possess high school diploma or equivalent preferred Possess or ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance card. Possess basic knowledge of general school operations. Possess computer knowledge. Ability to work in a timely and efficient manner. Relate to students, parents, and staff in a positive manner. Require knowledge to operate standard classroom and office equipment. Spanish Bilingual (preferred). Ability to translate written Spanish to English, English to Spanish (preferred). Have an excellent command of the English language. RESPONSIBILITIES: Print attendance sheets and distribute to teachers. Electronically submit attendance report to teachers and Madison Adventure Club (MAC). Input attendance and absence reasons into computer on a daily basis. Notify teachers who have not turned in attendance. Assist nurse in giving student passes to class (depending on individual school procedures). Assist nurse in taking phone calls from parents regarding absences. Notify parents who have not called in their child’s absence. Assist assistant principals with CUTS documentation Send attendance letters to parents/guardians as necessary. Assist with inputting student disciple information. Understand and apply safety-related precautions as outlined in SDS (safety data sheets). Act as registrar, secretary I, health associate or nurse in their absence and assist in times of high volume. Attend meetings as assigned. Print individual student absence and tardy information for teachers or principals as requested. Assist in preparation of 100 day report for state records. Input attendance information on student sign-out sheet. Assist with supervising and releasing students to parents/guardians as necessary. Contribute to the team by accomplishing additional duties as assigned. LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customer or employees. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form. EVALUATION: Performance evaluated by the Principal and School Nurse. SUPERVISON: Supervised by the Principal and School Nurse. GRADE / SALARY SCHEDULE / LENGTH OF WORK YEAR : Grade B $16.36-$20.25 (DOE) 4 hours/day 9 months
