About The Position

Breakthrough Public Schools is seeking highly collaborative, organized, and data-driven Attendance Managers to join the school Operations teams at each of our campuses. The Operations team keeps school systems running smoothly, creates a warm and welcoming environment for all stakeholders, and removes operational barriers so instructional staff can focus on student achievement. The Attendance Manager owns student attendance systems and serves as a core member of the Front Office team, blending clerical, administrative, and relationship-focused responsibilities to support students, families, and staff every day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a fast-paced office environment
  • Excellent word processing and grammar skills
  • Exceptional personal organization and attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record in accordance with the BPS’s acceptable guidelines.

  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Follow up and follow through independently, without prompting

Responsibilities

  • Attendance Tracking & Data Verify the accuracy of daily attendance submissions and follow up with teachers or make corrections as needed.
  • Share attendance data with the school team each day and provide more detailed reports upon request.
  • Accurately record and file documentation for excused absences, tardies, and early dismissals.
  • Ensure all tardies and early dismissals are captured in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Family Communication & Outreach Contact families of absent students to understand the reason for each absence.
  • Send regular, proactive attendance communications to families using a range of methods, including phone calls, text messages, emails, and written notices.
  • Conduct home visits and/or community meet-ups Interventions & Compliance Address consecutive absences using the established Breakthrough process.
  • Implement targeted interventions for students who are chronically absent or face barriers to consistent attendance.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director of Operations (MDO) on truancy-level interventions.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local attendance laws, as well as Breakthrough-specific attendance policies.
  • Engagement & Recognition Plan and facilitate attendance-related incentives, rewards, and events on a regular basis.
  • Serve as the school’s liaison to the Stay in the Game! Attendance Network.
  • Participate as an active member of the school Attendance Support Team (AST); facilitate and manage the AST in coordination with the APO.
  • Front Office & School Operations Serve as a consistent Front Office presence by warmly greeting and directing visitors.
  • Help maintain a welcoming, organized school environment.
  • Support the execution of daily operational systems and school-wide initiatives as needed.
  • Promptly escalate operational concerns to the Assistant Principal of Operations.
  • Assist in emergency and high-urgency situations as directed.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Contribute actively as a collaborative member of the school community.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
