About The Position

This position provides strategic direction to the development of athletic and recreational experiences, works with students, clubs, faculty, and staff to develop engagement initiatives which ensure opportunities for student-athlete and departmental success. The position exists to design, develop and direct initiatives, programs and activities which encourage a culture of student engagement within the college community and connect student-athletes to the institution, enrich the college experience, and enhance the academic experience. The position administers the overall NJCAA Division I athletic program and recreation services and provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all aspects of the program. The position is responsible for fiscal affairs, personnel, strategic planning, facilities, public relations, fundraising, and general operations; and works closely with multiple internal and external constituencies to advance strategic College objectives and goals. In consultation with the appropriate College administrators and key stakeholders, the position is responsible for the formulation and implementation of all athletic policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring compliance with all Federal, NJCAA, Arizona Community College Athletic Conference, NSHE and College athletics regulations, policies, and procedures. Administering departmental funds and accounts in a fiscally responsible manner; and sustaining a culture of ethics, sportsmanship, academic excellence, community engagement, and professionalism at all levels of the “Student First” climate at CSN. This position reports directly to the President or designee and serves on the President’s Cabinet as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or supplemented by post baccalaureate course work or training in relevant field including but not limited to business, organizational leadership, sports management, student development theory, enrollment practices, and counseling techniques from an accredited College/University OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in higher education as a head coach or administrator.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education, business, organizational leadership or a related athletic field from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 or more years combined in higher education or coaching.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Budget Management Experience
  • Athletic Travel Experience
  • NCAA or NJCAA Compliance/Eligibility experience
  • Sports Conference Fundraising & Development experience
  • Experience with Workday & PeopleSoft or related SIS software
  • Collegiate Head Coaching Experience
  • Collegiate Office Management Experience to include budgeting, athletic department operations and sports information
  • Workday, People Soft, Recruiting Databases
  • Bilingual-Spanish
