About The Position

Join an elite team supporting the U.S. Navy's most demanding training programs! As an Athletic Trainer, you'll provide critical injury prevention, rehabilitation, and human performance optimization services for Navy EOD technicians and divers in support of the Center for Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Diving. Working as part of the STRIKE Human Performance Program, you'll deliver hands-on athletic training services, including acute injury evaluation and management, exercise therapy programs, and sports medicine expertise to support approximately 1,850 elite military trainees annually. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program focusing on athletic training, physical education, and kinesiology
  • Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer examination and hold credentials of Athletic Trainer, Certified (ATC)
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Health Care provider, Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC), Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification
  • 2+ years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Experience working with groups of intercollegiate athletes or Department of Defense personnel
  • U.S. citizen

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise in planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation services, field coverage, and injury prevention in support of the STRIKE Human Performance Program.
  • Implement a wide range of exercise therapy programs for individuals and groups, requiring advanced practical knowledge of human performance and physiological mechanics, evidence-based medicine, and data collection.
  • Perform Athletic Trainer evaluation and testing procedures on students and staff with selected diagnoses/conditions; refer patients to physician or physical therapist for further evaluation based upon predetermined parameters.
  • Establish short-term and long-term treatment goals and design patient treatment programs based upon evaluation findings.
  • Perform as a Certified Exercise Reconditioning Specialist in the mitigation of sports medicine musculoskeletal injuries and in the follow-on strength and conditioning program.
  • Provide immediate evaluation and management of acute and chronic injuries and implement ongoing preventative measures.
  • Provide initial and refresher STRIKE qualification training to assigned military EOD and Diving Instructors.
  • Document injury mitigation and prepare records and reports in accordance with command guidance and directives.
