About The Position

Athletic Trainer - Stony Brook Orthopaedic Associates, UFPC Location: Lake Grove, NY Schedule: Full Time Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8 AM - 5 PM Pay: $26.71 - $33.38 Our compensation philosophy aims to provide marketable compensation programs and to compensate employees based on relevant experience and education. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents Stony Brook CPMP’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting SUMMARY: The Athletic Trainer (ATC) supports patient care efforts in the outpatient offices for the Department of Orthopedics. The practice has regular contact with patients from ten (10) years of age and older, with occasional contact with younger children. Working under the supervision of the Sports Medicine Service attending physicians. Greets and obtains patient histories. Performs physical examinations and evaluates injuries. Performs wound care and suture removal. Applies casts and splints. Provides patient education, both in office and on the telephone, when necessary. Assists in billing and medical documentation. Works closely with resident physicians and physician extenders. Participates in research meetings and quality improvement projects. Participates in outreach opportunities at local colleges, high schools, athletic competitions etc. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree; graduation from an accredited program for Athletic Training.
  • New York State licensure and certification (or eligibility) as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Successful completion of a one (1) year internship in Athletic Training with reference.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Infection Control Training.

  • Familiarity with billing practices.
  • Interest in musculoskeletal research.
