About The Position

Johnson Venture Management Solutions, Inc. (JVM Solutions) is recruiting an Athletic Trainer at FLETC-Artesia to provide injury prevention, treatment, care, and rehabilitation services to law enforcement trainees. The AT works under the advice and consent of the licensed Health Unit Physician. This position requires a valid New Mexico Athletic Trainer license, current NATABOC certification, passage of the New Mexico jurisprudence examination, and current AHA BLS certification.

Requirements

• Current, valid NATABOC certification
• Current, valid New Mexico Athletic Trainer license; must include proof of continuing education, CPR, and AED certification for every renewal cycle
• Satisfactory passage of the New Mexico Athletic Trainer jurisprudence examination
• Satisfactory passage of the NATA examination
• Current AHA BLS certification including CPR and AED use (DHS requirement
• Must practice under a licensed physician with standing orders and protocols formally established
• U.S. Citizen or alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence; DHS background investigation required

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience providing athletic training in a law enforcement, military, or tactical setting
• Experience with tactical athlete rehabilitation

Responsibilities

• Provide treatment, prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by law enforcement trainees at Artesia
• Practice at all times under the advice and consent of the FLETC-Artesia licensed Health Unit Physician
• Maintain the name and address of the supervising physician and standing orders/protocols; provide upon request by the licensing board
• Maintain confidential athlete/trainee case records consistent with NATA's current code of ethics and 16.3.2.8 NMAC
• Document records in accordance with NM Administrative Code (16.3.2.8 NMAC) and NATA standards
• Obtain and maintain consent for trainee participation and for services in the event of illness or injury
• Assess and evaluate musculoskeletal injuries; develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation plans
• Provide first aid and emergency response in coordination with Health Unit clinical staff
• Ensure one (1) AED is available in the Athletic Trainer office at all times; maintain and document AED readiness
• Email AED record to FLETC OHD after every AED activation
• Document all patient encounters in the Government-provided SASS EMR
• Attend FLETC Active Shooter Training and all required Government-provided training at no additional cost
• Coordinate with the Clinic Manager and health unit team on AT supplies and equipment
