About The Position

The CSU Department of Athletics is seeking to hire a temporary hourly position to support the full-time staff in the health care of CSU student athletes. This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of athletic training and sports medicine services for an NCAA Division I sports program(s) as determined by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. Position will include full-time hours in spring 2026, part-time hours in summer 2026, and the temporary position will conclude on September 1, 2026. The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of NCAA Division I (FBS). The University is a current member of the Mountain West Conference and future member of the Pac-12 Conference. The University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, 65 miles north of Denver. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Current NATABOC certification required
  • Current CPR/AED certification consistent with NATABOC standards
  • Current license as an athletic trainer with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) required prior to the start date of employment (see https://dpo.colorado.gov/AthleticTrainer for additional information)
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years of previous experience as a certified athletic trainer required, preferably in an intercollegiate sports medicine or athletic training program at the NCAA Division I level
  • Master’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Assume primary athletic training sport coverage for sport(s) as assigned by Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.
  • Assist with prevention and care of athletic related injuries for all sports programs
  • Provide clinical evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses under the general supervision of the designated team physician and in accordance with standards of the BOC and state regulatory board
  • Schedule diagnostic testing for student-athletes as indicated and ordered by managing physician; maintain open lines of communication with team physicians and medical providers regarding diagnostic testing
  • Coordinate physical exams for student-athletes as determined by sport assignment
  • Coordinate physician referrals as part of the injury management process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date written treatment and injury records in accordance with established medical documentation standards
