About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Sports Medicine, the Athletic Trainer assists in the management of the overall Athletics Sports Medicine program within athletics, university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, and, under the direction of team physicians, is responsible for the care and prevention of injuries for men's soccer and other assigned sports and student-athletes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Research best practices / establish proficiency in the execution of emergency care, injury prevention / reduction, student-athlete recovery, and monitoring during return to play progressions within evidence-based practice and guidelines / standards / protocols set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the State of Florida Department of Health Actively communicate / collaborate with team physicians, supervisor, athletic training staff, sports psychologists, performance nutrition, sports performance and coaching staff regarding student-athlete injury, health, wellness and athletic participation Organize and execute pre-participation physical screenings of student-athletes for assigned sports Educate student-athletes regarding best practices towards injury prevention, self-care, and health / wellness promotion Provide medical coverage for all countable athletic related activities, including, but not limited to games, practices, sports performance sessions, etc. Active records management of student-athlete health, documenting all encounters. Collaborates with medical clinics and insurance coordinator relative to student-athlete doctor visits Provides supervision, scheduling, training / mentoring and logistical support to student athletic trainers and volunteers where appropriate Management and maintenance of athletic training facility and equipment (i.e., modalities, etc.) Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of directly related professional experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain the NATABOC, as well as CPR and AED certification.

  • Athletic training experience at the NCAA Division I level or higher.
  • Due to the nature/scope of Athletics and Athletics events, position may require work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to stand / walk for extended periods of time and occasional travel.
