About The Position

The Athletic Trainer Fellow joins a staff of three full-time certified athletic trainers within the athletic department and has an opportunity to work with a wide variety of teams spanning approximately thirty different sports over three sports seasons. The Athletic Trainer will work under supervision until obtaining BOC certification and Indiana Licensure. This role involves the prevention, recognition, assessment, management, treatment, disposition, and rehabilitation/reconditioning of injuries. The position begins in June with support coverage for Culver Summer Schools and Camps then transitions to the academic school year starting in August and concluding at graduation. The Fellow will have additional, varied day-to-day duties depending on the assignment in teaching, sports administration or the health center. The Athletic Training Fellowship is a unique experience that can be tailored to one’s individual professional and personal goals. Athletic Fellows earn a salary of $31,000. In addition, Fellows live in furnished dormitory apartments and assume duties that allow them to become an integral part of the residential community. Several "extras" are included in the total compensation package: Furnished, rent-free/utility-free apartment. Free use of individual laptop computer. Dry cleaning service is provided. Free visits to Our Health Clinic, which includes many free generic medications. Use of our on-site Fitness Center. All meals are free through the dining hall, and there is no charge for guests. Membership in the Faculty Association for social gatherings. Free tickets to The Academies' Concert Series. Minimal charge for guests to stay in The Academies' accommodations. Cap and gown charges for faculty processionals are paid for. 15% discount in the Campus Store and the Uniform Department.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in athletic training required, master’s preferred and Certification through the Board of Certification (BOC) for Eligible Athletic Trainers.
  • Indiana State Licensure in Athletic Training Eligible and Current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer.
  • This position requires writing and editing effectively and communicating the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and authority when necessary.
  • This position requires discipline, an ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to work under the pressure of many priorities.
  • This position requires the ability to meet people with ease and the ability to work effectively within every level of the organization.
