About The Position

The Athletic Events & Facilities Coordinator is responsible for maintaining & preparing facilities to ensure a safe, clean, & professional environment for student-athletes, staff, & spectators. This role includes routine facility maintenance, cleaning, & equipment operation, as well as setup, preparation, & teardown for athletic competitions, tournaments, practices, & special events. Serves as a primary liaison to the gameday administrator, serving as the lead authority, ensuring functionality and cleanliness during competitions & events. Makes recommendations for deferred maintenance and replacement cycles, policies & procedures and is involved in implementation. Trains and has oversight of, full- & part-time staff and/or graduate student positions. Other duties as assigned. Regular hours are Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM, with some evening and weekend hours required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of facility or event experience
  • Experience operating various equipment such as high-speed floor buffer, carpet extractor, floor auto scrubber and field sweeper.

Responsibilities

  • Trains full- & part-time staff & graduate student positions.
  • Turf maintenance including, but not limited to, utilizing various turf maintenance equipment and expediting minor repairs.
  • Provide on-site support during collegiate athletic events, tournaments, and practices to troubleshoot facility issues and ensure a positive experience for athletes, staff, and fans.
  • Assist with all aspects of set-up and teardown for athletic contests, championships, commencements, and other special events.
  • Ensure all equipment within the facility, including safety equipment are properly installed and in good condition.
  • Install audio-visual equipment, including PA systems and scoreboards.
  • Support crowd management by ensuring pathways, exits, and seating areas are safe and accessible.
  • Perform exterior maintenance, including snow removal, debris clearance, and preparation of fields and courts for practices and competitions.
  • Perform minor repairs to maintain safe and functional athletic environments, while also providing insight to future maintenance and replacement of equipment.
  • Perform general upkeep and maintenance of all facets of athletic facilities to uphold university and athletic department standards.
  • Provide general laundry oversight for several different areas.
  • Safely operate and maintain equipment such as, but not limited to: auto floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, high-pressure washers, high-speed floor buffers, etcetera.
  • Clean, and maintain floors, furnishings and surfaces within athletic facilities.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms according to established procedures and restock dispensers to support large-scale events.
  • Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. safely, including athletic equipment, event supplies, and furniture.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the athletic department and events.
