Join us. Position: ATAK Software Developer DZYNE is seeking an ATAK Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate custom ATAK capabilities supporting operational users. This role focuses on building ATAK plugins, integrations, and data flows that enable real-time situational awareness and command-and-control of aerial vehicles. You will work closely with autonomy engineers, hardware teams, and end users to deliver production-ready ATAK solutions for demonstrations, exercises, and deployed systems. Location: Irvine,CA Position Description: Design, build, and deploy real-time applications within the ATAK plugin ecosystem to enable tactical control for end users. Define and implement APIs to support efficient and secure network communications. Contribute to foundational software architecture, helping shape how systems interact across the TAK environments. Collaborate with the ATAK and TAK developer community, sharing insights and contributing to open innovation. Test and evaluate software through simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets to ensure reliability and performance in demanding environments.

Requirements

  • Experience developing user interface applications, especially those that are high-traffic, data-intensive, or map-based.
  • Proficiency in ATAK and native android development, including XML Layouts, Java, and Kotlin.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies and protocols such as TCP/UDP/Multicast, HTTP (REST).
  • Strong user-focused mindset — able to translate operational needs into software features that balance usability and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborative spirit — comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to shared goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ISR systems, UAS, or autonomy platforms
  • Familiarity with Cursor on Target (CoT) standards
  • Experience with offline-first or edge-deployed systems
