About The Position

The Physics Teaching Assistant assists with instruction, labs, and grading under the guidance of the grading instructor. The TA will help their peers as needed during class time and will run weekly office hours to provide extra academic support. They will assist with grading as needed, and advocate for any needs they observe among the students of their course. The TA will assist Professor Grocholski with Phys-396 in Spring 2026, including grading assistance, office hours, and classroom management.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate at American University.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Grading homework and quizzes.
  • Schedule and host weekly office hours to help students with coursework and provide extra tutoring support.
  • Assist with lecture or lab activities as needed.
  • Assist with general department events and tutoring initiatives.
