About The Position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will serve as the primary point of contact and lead the Rapport team in Iselin, New Jersey, while also providing operational oversight and leadership support for assigned regional locations, including New York, Boston, and Chicago. The AGM will act as the senior Compass Group representative on site in Iselin and a key liaison across supported locations, serving as the direct conduit to the client and Resident District Manager (RDM) regarding all matters related to operations, communication, challenges, and escalations. This role is responsible for end-to-end oversight of workplace hospitality and conference services across all assigned sites, ensuring that policies, procedures, and Rapport standards are consistently followed. The AGM will provide planning, direction, and strategic support to on-site and remote teams to achieve operational excellence, financial goals, and service consistency in a dynamic, multi-location environment. The AGM will build and maintain strong client relationships across all locations, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience, drive efficiencies, and support business objectives. This position plays a critical role in coaching and developing managers and team members, fostering collaboration across markets, and ensuring teams are operating at maximum efficiency. Travel is expected to support regional oversight and client engagement, with anticipated travel of approximately 10%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of three (3) years of management experience, preferably in conference center, hotel operations, or hospitality management. Communications, Event Planning or Hospitality background preferred.
  • Has proven track record of leading a business and a team, strong customer service, and good business and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative, critical thinking, ownership, communications (listening, written, and verbal), multi-tasking, prioritization, and organization skills.
  • Champions the inclusion mindset, and is proactive, positive, professional, and resilient.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrates work experience with reservation software platforms.
  • Catering or other food service-related experience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively and make decisions when faced with ambiguity.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and maintain a flexible approach when providing customer support.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents and memos.
  • BS degree and minimum of 3 years hotel or conference center sales experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Represents company in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all customer and employee interactions.
  • Ensures corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed.
  • Follows and observes all company policies and procedures. Always maintains a professional appearance. Clean and well-groomed in accordance with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Management of operations in the Iselin, New York, Boston and Chicago offices including Reception, Reservations, Community Management, Conference Coordination, and Space Management platform Support.
  • Manage execution of any key objectives or client projects directed by the RDM.
  • Provide a high profile, visual presence throughout the site in to build and retain strong relationships.
  • Ensure service standards are maintained with target audit score.
  • Manage performance of the team including training development plan and regular performance reviews.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Executive Committee Admins and High-Level Clients.
  • Foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
  • Oversee the strategic booking of space within the system to ensure maximum utilization of the facilities.
  • Ensure Rapport policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Align the Rapport and Client Values.
  • Champion development within the account; conducts performance evaluations, along with succession planning; has full understanding of all roles within the operation.
  • Ensures consistent and fair administration of all policies and procedures.
  • Leads projects and initiatives directly related to Rapport lines of business.
