About The Position

This is a professional position responsible for coordinating dispensing inspections of Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MMTCs) dispensing facilities and related compliance activities brought under the authority of Section 381.986, F.S., and by Article X, Section 29, of the Florida Constitution. This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. This individual will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. Manages the inspections of MMTC cultivation, processing, storage, and dispensing facilities, ensuring that scheduled and unscheduled inspections of facilities are conducted in a thorough, professional, and diligent manner. Coordinates the Office of Medical Marijuana Use actions related to follow-up inspections, requests for information, and compliance actions. Responsible for the development of operational procedures, guides, tools, and trainings to ensure inspections are performed in accordance with statutes, rules, and Department policies. Ensures staff are trained and prepared to conduct inspections of MMTCs. Ensures reports are created for each inspection and complaint response. Organize reports, oversee necessary redactions of reports, and alert leadership to necessary compliance actions.

Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Knowledge of computer data bases
  • Knowledge and use of the compliance management system and licensing system used by the Agency
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures and government rules & regulations
  • Communicating effectively with others in writing
  • Listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate
  • Knowing how to find information and identifying essential information
  • Developing approaches for implementing an idea
  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • 4 years of experience in conducting investigations, regulatory or compliance inspections or in law enforcement
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • A valid Driver's License, participation in direct deposit, satisfactorily complete a background investigation, and fingerprinting are requirements for employment.
