About The Position

The Assistant Food Service Supervisor will supervise Cook II detainee leads and direct the work of detainees assigned to the food service area at the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, Texas. This role is responsible for preparing facility meals according to pre-planned menus and in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food service training
  • Two (2) years of food service experience
  • Valid food handler’s permit required, if required by the State of Texas
  • Successfully complete required preservice training
  • Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor work of cooks and food service workers, which includes long periods of walking and standing
  • Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of detainees
  • Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times
  • Exercise judgement and use discretion when responding to incidents and determine whether to intervene or call for security staff
  • Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors
  • Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal
  • Direct the work of detainees assigned to the food service area
  • Maintain the count and control of knives and other controlled kitchen tools. Provide a count of all control items at the beginning and end of each shift. Responsible for the security of the food service area
  • Requires the pushing and pulling of food carts
  • Regular attendance is required
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed
  • Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management
