About The Position

Multi-stage investment firm, is seeking an Associate to join their Healthcare VC investment team. The firm has a long track record of top quartile returns and has completed over 600 investments across venture capital, growth equity, and buyouts. The position will be dedicated to the healthcare space with a focus on venture stage companies in biotech. Therefore, experience within therapeutics is required. Based in our Menlo Park /San Francisco office, the successful candidate will support the healthcare/biotech investment team by taking part in the identification, origination, evaluation, diligence, and negotiation of new investment opportunities. They will also participate in portfolio management activities including quarterly valuation, exit strategy and strategic assistance to individual companies, as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in field of science required, MBA, MD and/or PhD degree a plus, not required
  • 2-4 years work experience in the healthcare field including, equity research, investment banking, life sciences strategy consulting, venture capital, or biomedical research
  • Ability to articulate and debate opinions on potential investments
  • First-hand experience with financial modeling and due diligence processes on investment projects
  • Academic expertise in scientific evaluation/research
  • Must be local or relocate to San Francisco/Bay Area (in-person is mandatory 4 days/week)

Responsibilities

  • Conducting deep scientific due diligence via literature searches, KOL calls, reviewing clinical and regulatory data packages, etc.
  • Evaluating new investment opportunities and synthesizing findings in form of investment memos and financial models for internal discussions to be presented to pertinent Investment Committee(s)
  • Managing projects by taking part in scoping and managing the content and timing of relevant due diligence streams (e.g. scientific, clinical, commercial, financial, legal, IT, operational) related to investment projects and portfolio companies
  • Deep understanding of financial modeling and being able to develop investment perspectives and recommendations based on limited financial information
  • Documenting new investment opportunities and expanding industry expertise through e.g., desktop research, external meetings, expert calls, external advisors, and conferences
