Reporting to the Senior Vice President for University Strategy and Operations, the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Institutional Effectiveness and Technology (IET)/Senior (Chief) Information Officer (CIO) provides university-wide leadership for innovative and strategic initiatives that increase institutional efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability while staying highly focused on service excellence. The AVP/CIO has overall responsibility for planning, budget, and policy formulation for the University's Information and Instructional Technology and data resources. The AVP/CIO provides leadership for the teams within the IET Department including Enterprise Service Management, USO Service Center, IT Service Desk, Academic Technology Services, and Endpoint Technology Services, University Event Services, Integration, Development, Enterprise Architecture and Solutions, Enterprise Systems and Storage, Data and Information Security, and Network Technologies. As a member of the President's Executive Cabinet (PEC), the AVP/CIO contributes to the strategic and operational development and direction of the University. The AVP/CIO is responsible for ensuring technology, data, and reporting is optimized throughout the university to achieve institutional goals. The AVP/CIO works collaboratively to create an environment that enables members of the University community to use information technologies and data creatively, confidently, and securely in teaching, learning, research, operations, administration, and service. This is accomplished by promoting excellent customer service, developing effective communications, requirements-based planning, and providing innovative solutions that are reliable and accessible. The AVP/CIO is responsible for being an active partner in Minnesota State system-level cybersecurity, information and instructional technology and data strategy initiatives to ensure compliance with system data and information security policies. The Associate Vice President/CIO collaborates with and leads staff at university locations that house faculty and staff, including Dayton’s Bluff, Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park and Midway, for the delivery of complex and complementary IT services that are secure, innovative, and reliable. The AVP/CIO is also responsible for hosting, designing, administering and supporting the Minnesota State System’s technology that provides the “eduroam” service for all students, employees, and any other member of eduroam’s global education and research network.
