About The Position

Carthage College seeks an Associate Vice President for Advancement and Campaign Director who will serve as an essential operational partner to the Vice President for Advancement. The Associate Vice President and Campaign Manager will have primary responsibility for campaign management and be a highly systematic and results-oriented professional with a demonstrated ability to lead and organize formal and informal groups of colleagues and volunteers toward innovative approaches in constituent engagement, major donor development, and donor relations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree for this position is required. Master's preferred.
  • The candidate must have at least five years of experience in managing members of an advancement team. Preference will be given to those who have worked within private higher education and have a demonstrated passion for those characteristics that distinguish a Carthage College education.
  • Excellent motivational, communicative, and supervisory skills, especially experience in mentoring team members new to the advancement field and/or in the beginning stages of their career.
  • The candidate will possess an eye for detail and high-quality production, along with the ability to exercise courtesy, tact, and flexibility.
  • A thorough understanding of donor acquisition and retention practices, segmentation principles, and data analysis. Database proficiency is required. A working knowledge of Slate CRM for Advancement is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overall campaign management and organization including strategy implementation, establishment of donor pipelines and prospect tracking, maintenance of timelines, and task assignment.
  • Coordination and alignment of strategy with internal partners, including admissions, athletics, career services, and student financial aid, among others.
  • Establish and maintain the master campaign calendar to maximize Advancement team and volunteer productivity.
  • Development of the relationship management infrastructure necessary to support the Carthage College President, Vice President for Advancement, and the Board of Trustees in their relationship-building and fundraising efforts.
  • Assist the President and Vice President for Advancement in providing staff leadership of volunteer organizations, including the Board of Trustees, Alumni Council, and Business and Professional Coalition, as well as consideration of new structures that will increase engagement and revenue to the College
