About The Position

UCF IT is seeking to hire an Associate Vice President and Deputy CIO. This position acts as second-in-command to the CIO. The Deputy CIO is responsible for establishing and enforcing the university-wide framework for IT policy, standards, and governance, while simultaneously providing executive leadership and oversight for all enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and core administrative platforms. This role is crucial for ensuring that the university's technology investments are strategically aligned, operationally compliant, and effectively support the mission of UCF.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of leadership experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree with at least 5 years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Nice To Haves

  • Proven success as a Deputy CIO, Associate CIO, or equivalent executive role within a large higher education or public-sector organization.
  • Extensive experience managing enterprise systems with deep functional and technical knowledge of Workday HCM and Financials and/or PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for enterprise technology initiatives, with a history of managing portfolios exceeding $20 million annually.
  • Strong background in IT governance, policy development, and compliance frameworks; relevant certifications such as COBIT (IT Governance) or ITIL (IT Service Management) preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and political acumen to navigate complex decision-making structures and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior executives to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Advanced degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Act as second-in-command to the CIO and represent IT strategy in internal/external forums.
  • Lead university-wide IT governance, policy development, and standards enforcement.
  • Chair governance committees to ensure transparent decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee ERP systems and administrative platforms, including Workday and PeopleSoft.
  • Manage technical infrastructure for ERP environments and related middleware.
  • Ensure system reliability, data integrity, and compliance across critical systems.
  • Align technology decisions with resource planning and financial strategies.
  • Support CIO in long-term IT strategic planning and vision execution.
  • Mentor IT leaders, fostering accountability and service excellence.
