About The Position

Animal Tracks is a small animal clinic that offers a wide range of services including vaccines, surgery, dental cleanings, in-hospital bloodwork, digital radiographs, Ultrasound, boarding, and doggie daycare. The Animal Tracks team is a group of caring individuals dedicated to providing quality pet care in a warm, friendly, and family-like environment. Whether you're a new graduate looking for mentorship or an experienced doctor with established interests, we’ll support your growth and help you practice the kind of medicine you enjoy. Our Fear Free practice has a warm, homey feel (yes—our building was originally a house!) with three exam rooms, a surgery suite, grooming, and boarding. You’ll have the tools you need to do great work, including in-house labs, digital radiography, and ultrasound. We keep our days productive and well-supported, with a schedule designed to respect your time—your last appointment is at 4:10pm. We’re ideally looking for a doctor who enjoys surgery and dentistry and wants to be part of a collaborative, easygoing team. About the Area Decatur, known as “The River City,” sits along the Tennessee River and Wheeler Lake in northern Alabama. With local favorites like the Alabama Jubilee, Spirit of America Festival, and Riverfest, it’s a welcoming place to call home and build a life outside of work.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
