About The Position

Associate Underwriter works closely with his/her manager and underwriters to provide excess transportation underwriting support within the standards and time frames in adherence to specific guidelines and procedures within the S&S Transportation division.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred, along with 1+ year of Property & Casualty experience.
Possesses strong communication and analytical skills.
Self directed
Ability to work autonomously in a remote work environment
Proficient computer skills and use of Microsoft Office Program (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

Pursuing insurance industry designations such as AINS, CPCU, CRIS, etc. a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist the underwriting team to evaluate and triage new business against strategy and guidelines as needed within assigned team.
Handle binders as needed and assigned within team.
Build skills to make underwriting decisions and maintain proper file documentation.
Assist with endorsement processing and all accounting issues as they are needed.
Assist with pricing needs and/or quote proposals, under direction and as needed, within the assigned underwriting team.
May pursue industry designations via coursework completed during on-the-job training.
May participate in projects.
Proactively acquires knowledge and skill.
Minimal travel may be required
Other assigned duties.
