About The Position

The Associate Underwriter - Casualty will work in a team setting underwriting and servicing new and renewal accounts for the development and retention of our Casualty Lines business. Strong focus on renewals. Production and underwriting of new and renewal account business of the following classes: Construction, Products, Liquor Liability, Habitational, Amusements, and OL&T. Compliance with underwriting documentation rules and guidelines. Maintain an acceptable underwriting profit. Adherence to Admiral underwriting guidelines and referral compliance. Development and maintenance of key broker/agent relationships. Deliver timely and accurate quotes and endorsements to brokers, ensuring responsive and reliable service. Participates in all internal company training and continuing education. Attends strategic marketing calls to key brokers. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience underwriting Commercial Lines, with proficiency handling complex and high-hazard risks.
  • Strong knowledge of the E&S marketplace.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial E&S Casualty strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand and execute priorities including underwriting appetite, limit management and mix of business, broker strategy, and pricing/rate strategy.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed coursework toward a Risk Management and Insurance Degree a plus.
  • Applicable coursework toward attainment of a CPCU or other related Insurance Designation(s) preferred.
