About The Position

Cambridge Systematics, Inc. is a leader in transportation, providing innovative policy and planning solutions, objective analyses, and technology applications to help clients meet future transportation needs and improve existing infrastructure. The Planning group offers integrated planning, management, and project development services across five subgroups: Planning & Management, Safety, Freight & Economics, Transit + Shared Mobility, and Operations & Technology Planning. The Associate Transportation Analyst conducts qualitative (research, interviewing, outreach, report development) and quantitative (spreadsheet tools, dataset management, GIS mapping, data processing, light coding/scripting) assignments. These assignments support various efforts including statewide and regional planning studies, multimodal corridor studies, transit planning projects, financial and economic analysis, transportation policy analysis, asset management, freight/rail planning, safety, grant writing, and environmental analysis. The Analyst also engages with clients, performs business development tasks like networking and proposal development, and is responsible for delivering high-quality products. They manage projects and tasks or serve as a deputy project manager, supported by senior staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of experience in transportation engineering, planning, or related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Organized; ability to lead tasks independently
Proficient narrative writing skills
Effective presentation skills

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree
Previous or current project management or deputy project management experience
Experience working with transportation clients in New England
GIS experience
Grant writing and Benefit Cost Analysis knowledge and/or experience
Experience working with large datasets

Updates project staffing in CS staffing program on time each month
Reviews and submits invoices and progress reports on time
Participates in regional, business unit, and other business development initiative meetings to identify and coordinate BD and marketing activities
Contributes to sound bid/no-bid decisions
Develops effective win themes, teaming strategies, pricing strategies, and technical content for all proposals in area of responsibility
Builds and maintains long-term client relationships and actively listens to their needs
Maintains post-delivery communication with clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and to prospect for repeat/expanded business
Builds strong positive relationships with management, NPLs and senior consultants, and marketing & communications staff to develop winning proposals
