About The Position

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Associate Transmission & Distribution CAD
Operator. This position will be based out of our Pittsburgh, PA or DuBois, PA
office. The ideal candidate has good analytical thinking, problem-solving
techniques, computer-aided drafting (CAD) experience, and excellent
communication skills. This position will be responsible for assisting a team of
engineers and project managers with transmission line and distribution design.

Requirements

• Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery.
• Preparation of Specification Packages.
• Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings.
• Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower.
• Design and Analysis of foundations.
• Analysis of existing and proposed structures regarding Client and other required codes, standards, and specifications.
• Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
• Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings.
• Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
• Demonstrate attention detail.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
• Follows Project and Task Manager to assemble drawings
• Basic 2-D line work and text edits. Plot and create PDF drawings. Perform red-line edits. Follows basic QA/QC procedures. Assist with general office functions such as printing and folding drawings
• Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope
• interacts effectively with other staff. Learns to master and accurately follow instructions from others
