About The Position

As an Associate Technical Writer, you’ll help produce, edit, publish, and distribute a wide range of technical documents with some supervision. You’ll use XML authoring tools and structured authoring principles to draft new content and update existing materials while collaborating closely with subject matter experts and Technical Writers on the Team. You’ll also ensure all documents align with Company and industry style guidelines before publishing and distributing them to Employees across the system. Requirements

  • Knowledge of Business Management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
  • Skilled in writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
  • Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations)
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
  • Ability to compare similarities and differences quickly and accurately among sets of letters, numbers, objects, pictures, or patterns at the same time or one after the other
  • Ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Entry-level experience, developing skills and knowledge in: Technical writing
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Familiarity with web-based authoring applications and tools
  • Preferred: Experience with XML documents
  • Preferred: Experience with HTML or content management systems

Responsibilities

  • Quickly and accurately edit technical documents within established timeframes in accordance with style guides
  • Draft original content and work with existing content to improve readability, including working with content management systems and structured authoring tools
  • Regularly revise technical material with strict adherence to the established workflow
  • Publish electronic and paper manual updates and distribute revisions Companywide
  • Develop new forms
  • Work with graphic programs to optimize images in various formats
  • Prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Research internal and external resources to help resolve conflicting information
  • Communicate with Leaders, Co-workers, and Customers respectfully and professionally
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
