As a member of the Systems Engineering Team, the Associate Systems Engineer will actively drive and manage the technology evaluation stage of the sales process and will work with industry groups, sales representatives and customers as a technical advisor, trainer and product advocate for the entire Plumbing and/or HVAC system, including controls integration and support configuration tool development and maintenance. This role has no direct reports. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering. This role is onsite and is based in Blauvelt, NY.

Requirements

  • Requires a BS or BE in engineering .
  • 3 + years of commercial HVAC/Plumbing industry experience
  • Customer service and/or sales experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in applying commercial HVAC and plumbing equipment
  • Public presentation skills .
  • Requires experience in programing/coding
  • Requires knowledge of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems and demonstrated ability to optimize complete mechanical and plumbing system design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills applicable to a service-oriented environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including drug screen, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.
  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in sales activities with Regional Sales Managers and local representation on future and current projects with owners, architects or engineers.
  • Assist in calling on representative sales offices to routinely conduct sales rep training, lunch-n-learns, engineering visits, rep evaluations, etc.
  • Provide subject matter expertise , specification, and applications support to sales representatives
  • Provide training for new and current Sales Agencies on applications, value proposition , and expectations.
  • Assist Marketing in the development of collateral and value proposition for all Watts products and services based on voice of customer .
  • Utilizes equipment operating parameters to develop selection tools.
  • Works closely with subject matter experts to automate complex sizing and selection tasks.
  • Performs necessary engineering calculations to support product selection and recommendations.
  • Stays current on platform products, competitor product offerings and other HVAC products to understand and explain key selling points and be able to help field engineering staff determine best match of equipment for optimum efficiency and system reliability; provides specification assistance .
  • Gather market and competitor information and forwards to Marketing and factory Sales groups . At the same time, stay up to date on product compatibility, application, and competitiveness .
  • Represent Company at professional societies to promote Company’s technology and product .
  • Provide generic industry related presentations as .
  • Provide product and industry topics presentations as in the field and in support of customer factory visits .
  • Manage own expenses in accordance with the budget and team guidelines .
  • Entertain sales agencies and customers in compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Participate in special inter-company projects and assignments.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all Company products.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering or Company Management.
  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency).
