About The Position

Montgomery College has an immediate need for a Full- Associate Senior Vice President for Student Success and Strategic Initiatives. The work schedule is Monday -Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm., with occasional evening and weekend hours, depending on the needs of the unit. This is an Exempt, non-bargaining grade 39 position. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs, the Associate Senior Vice President for Student Success and Strategic Initiatives provides executive leadership for institutional strategies designed to advance access, persistence, student completion, and post-completion success. The position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating high-impact student success initiatives aligned with Montgomery College’s Transformational Aspirations and Strategic Plan. Working in close collaboration with leadership across the College, the Associate Senior Vice President ensures alignment with institutional priorities, data-informed decision-making, and equitable student outcomes. The role provides strategic direction for a portfolio of programs and services that support student success from entry through completion and beyond, including Intercollegiate Athletics, Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES), Student Employment Services, parenting student programs, and TRIO programs (Student Support Services and Educational Opportunity Center). This position also oversees the coordination and project management of collegewide initiatives related to strategic student success priorities, including the coordination of social support resources, mental health resources, parenting student programming, and the student complaint and resolution process for the Student Affairs Division. The Associate Senior Vice President supervises senior administrators and professional staff responsible for these areas and ensures alignment between programmatic efforts and measurable strategic plan outcomes. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible senior leadership experience in student affairs or higher education administration.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the student affairs field within higher education.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education administration and student affairs practices.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing higher education.
  • Knowledge of assessment practices, student success metrics, and data analytics.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to lead complex organizational change initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to lead large-scale initiatives without direct reporting authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a key member of the Student Affairs executive leadership team and provides strategic counsel to the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs on matters related to student access, engagement, retention, completion, and student success strategy.
  • Represents the Senior Vice President at institutional meetings, collegewide initiatives, and external engagements as needed.
  • Works closely with divisional leadership to translate strategic priorities into operational initiatives, ensuring alignment between institutional goals and Student Affairs programs. This includes advising on policy development, operational practices, and resource allocation decisions that support student success.
  • Provides executive leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of student success strategies that promote student access, engagement, persistence, completion, and career readiness.
  • Provides leadership for personnel management, including hiring, supervision, professional development, and evaluation of faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Provides executive oversight for federally funded TRIO programs, including Student Support Services and the Educational Opportunity Center. Collaborates with the Grants Office and program leadership to ensure compliance with federal regulations, effective program management, and accurate reporting of program outcomes.
  • Provides strategic direction for student employment initiatives that support career readiness. Ensures that student employment opportunities align with strategic priorities and provide meaningful professional development experiences.
  • Provides leadership and strategic oversight for intercollegiate athletics, ensuring that athletic programs support access, student engagement, academic success, and institutional pride while maintaining compliance with applicable athletic governance and equity standards.
  • Supports programs designed to enhance college readiness, student persistence, and successful transitions into and through Montgomery College. Ensures that these programs leverage best practices in advising, mentoring, and student support services.
  • Provides leadership for initiatives that strengthen student engagement and family support systems, including programs designed to support parenting students and other student populations with unique needs.
  • Coordinates collegewide efforts to strengthen student access to social support resources, including partnerships related to mental health, parenting student services, and other wraparound supports that contribute to student persistence and well-being.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness to develop analytics, reporting systems, and assessment frameworks that support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and supports employee and labor relations processes as needed. Responsibilities may include participation in collective bargaining negotiations, grievance and discipline hearings, labor-management committees, and governance councils.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging trends and best practices in student affairs, student success, and higher education administration and integrates these practices into institutional strategies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
