About The Position

As an Associate State Product Manager for California Property, you will serve as a strategic leader representing CSAA Insurance Group in shaping California’s property insurance market response to escalating wildfire risk and elevate CSAA’s reputation as a responsible insurer committed to long-term market stability, homeowner education, and community wildfire resilience. You will also be responsible for driving profitable growth across multiple products by developing strategies and driving key initiatives through results supervising and developing action items to achieve business goals. This is a high-profile position where you will engage with partners across the Enterprise and industry in product planning and strategic management discussions to ensure that objectives are met. You will oversee the successful rollout of key strategic goals and work closely with various cross-functional partners to ensure that actions are thoroughly and comprehensively planned. You will play a key role in the profitability of the products, as well as the long-term sustainability of the California Property market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area (finance, marketing, business, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of related work experience with 5+ years of relevant work experience in the personal lines P&C insurance industry.
  • Prior experience related to state product management in analytical, product specialist, or market generation roles or other related functions (e.g., pricing, product strategy and development, or data science) required.
  • Enhanced strategic and business sense.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations for internal and external partners.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Thorough knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, products, marketplace, competitive landscape, and pricing.
  • In-depth product management expertise.
  • Advanced understanding of financial drivers of profitability and a proven track record to develop and sustain profitability-based product and marketing strategies.
  • Consultative leadership orientation.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and the ability to influence seasoned and senior-level internal and external parties.
  • Coaches and mentors more junior team members.
  • High-Level of knowledge and proficiency in change management concepts and practices, with demonstrated success in motivating and influencing others at all levels while driving towards results.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize, build, and implement product plans for assigned markets, ensuring compliance.
  • Consult with State Product Leadership to drive clarity of business strategies and operating objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal product, underwriting, and risk management teams to ensure CSAA’s wildfire mitigation programs are operationally scalable and aligned with regulatory expectations.
  • Actively influence state policy, regulatory discussions, and industry forums related to wildfire mitigation, insurability, and long-term market sustainability.
  • Represent CSAA in public forums, trade associations, and partner roundtables to promote practical solutions that expand availability and affordability of property insurance in high-risk areas
  • Support enterprise catastrophe management strategy by integrating public policy engagement with underwriting, pricing, and portfolio management objectives.
  • Contribute thought leadership on the evolving California property market, including FAIR Plan dynamics, reinsurance pressures, and climate-driven risk trends.
  • Influence development of industry standards for wildfire risk scoring, inspection protocols, and mitigation verification processes.
  • Influence overall strategy and business plans, defining where, how, and when to compete (customer segments, product mix, geography, value proposition, pricing, distribution channels, and product features).
  • Collaborate with a team of Product Analyst and Specialists, developing long-term sustainable strategies.
  • Oversee and coordinate product development, delivery, and analysis for assigned markets.
  • Supervise all aspects of product performance, including close ratio, retention, quality of the book of business, club and agent satisfaction, and other distribution channel satisfaction.
  • Review claims trends to achieve loss ratio targets.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of current products and future enhancements to make recommendations to the Product Strategy and Development team and develop market introduction plans.
  • Ensure alignment within and across functions and communicates results throughout the organization.
  • Drive strategy and advocate for the specific needs of California Property, partnering on rate and non-rate action to address indication, gain strategic alignment, and ensure compliance.
  • Some travel required for high impact relationship building opportunities with internal and external partners.
