Team Overview: EDC’s Structured and Project Finance Team (SPF) is a leader in global project and infrastructure finance, playing a significant role in helping Canada grow and diversify its international trade. Since its establishment in 1995, the SPF team has successfully closed over 700 financing transactions worldwide, totalling more than USD 60 billion. The SPF team also provides thought leadership to internal and government stakeholders on critical minerals, the energy transition, and trade-enabling infrastructure projects. Project Finance is a specialized field of finance where financing decisions are based on project-specific cash flows and assets. It is widely used across industries such as energy, renewables, mining/critical minerals, transportation infrastructure and digital infrastructure. EDC’s project finance counterparties include leading international sponsors, exporters, law firms and global project finance and investment banks. Project Finance Associate Program (PFAP): As an Associate, you will participate in EDC’s Project Finance Associate Program (PFAP), a unique journey combining structured learning and hands-on experience in underwriting activities such as financial modeling and sensitivity analysis, credit structuring, conducting due diligence, structuring legal documentation, and interacting with clients, sponsors, advisors and co-financiers. Associates benefit from mentorship by senior team members, regular feedback, and opportunities to participate in high-impact projects. What you will be doing: Research, Financial Analysis & Modeling: · Conducting industry and sector research in relevant industries or regions · Conducting financial analysis; manipulating and constructing detailed cash flow models · Benchmarking model assumptions through industry research and competitive analysis of comparable projects Transaction Execution: · Supporting due diligence and analyzing complex project finance loan transactions as the junior member of a deal team · Preparing portions of the credit package for internal approval · Participating in the negotiation of transaction documentation with legal counsel and counterparties Client Engagement & Portfolio Management: · Engaging professionally with internal and external stakeholders during transaction execution · Tracking market opportunities, supporting development of financing proposals, conducting market scanning exercises to identify market insights and trends · Assisting in managing the portfolio throughout the life of the transactions Skills & Knowledge: Technical Skills: · Proficiency in financial modeling and spreadsheet applications · Ability to source and manipulate data from Bloomberg and Capital IQ · Knowledge of credit and capital markets Sectoral & Business Knowledge: · Understanding of energy, renewables, mining/critical minerals, transportation infrastructure or digital infrastructure sectors · Familiarity with Canadian and/or international business and banking practices Interpersonal Skills: · Strong team player with leadership qualities · Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) · Strong negotiation, diplomacy, and persuasion abilities What we are looking for: · MBA graduate/Master’s degree with a focus on finance or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience · Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in project finance, investment banking or corporate banking, or in a finance role in a project-finance-related industry · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English What will make you stand out: · Enrolment in the CFA program · Proficiency in French · Proficiency in other languages of Canada’s key international trading markets Salary range: · Underwriter 17: Salaries typically range from SGD $91,800 to $122,400 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive. Location: · This position is based at EDC’s Singapore branch office at the Marina Bay Financial Centre, Singapore. Requirements

  • MBA graduate/Master’s degree with a focus on finance or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in project finance, investment banking or corporate banking, or in a finance role in a project-finance-related industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
