The Lockheed Martin Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) team is seeking experienced Software Engineers to be part of a team developing missile defense technology that could forever change our ability to deter and respond to adversity Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full time an Associate Software Engineering Manager. You will combine technical leadership with people management duties to ensure software projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role is a primary interface to internal stakeholders and requires a systems thinking mindset that balances architecture, cost, and schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 â years of experience leading technical software projects in aerospace, defense, or high tech environments; proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Currently hold a full active security clearance.
  • Demonstrated success in people management.
  • Competence in C++, and Python
  • Must be a US Citizen; this position will require Final Secret government security clearance prior to starting.
  • This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with embedded software development, such as VxWorks and Familiarity with embedded system constraints..
  • Defense Program Knowledge - Prior work on DoD programs, including exposure to contract and customer interaction.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills; proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable thriving in a fast paced, dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Strong ability to view software solutions within the broader mission system context.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Guide solution development across code bases. Champion best in class software practices.
  • Engineering Management: Own staff planning, recruitment, onboarding, and career development for a team of software engineers.
  • Program Execution: Develop and maintain integrated project schedules and resource allocations. Track milestones, budgets, and risk registers; provide status reports to senior leadership and customers.
