About The Position

What is an Associate Service Supervisor? The Associate Service Supervisor position is a first line supervisory position that is designed to progress to the position of Service Supervisor based upon job performance. The Associate Service Supervisor may serve as the first line Supervisor for a District or as a Supervisor of Contractor Operations in the Commercial Department as needed. What does an Associate Service Supervisor do? Primary Duties: Plans, schedules, coordinates, supervises, and directs activities, projects, safety, and functions of contractors and employees associated with gas installations, inspections, metering, appliance relights, emergency response, gas compliance and other customer related functions to assure customers the best and safest utilization of gas and electric service Collaborates with and develops good working relationships and lines of communication with other internal departments to maintain existing high levels of customer service with ongoing Distribution Improvement Projects, Simply Better Programs, and the Indoor Atmospheric Inspection Program Provides operational control and utilization of Mobility Planning and Scheduling System for assigned contractors Reviews gas compliance dashboards for area of responsibility and promptly corrects issues Reviews and audits weekly and monthly invoices provided by contractors for various projects Attends weekly DIP Planning meetings and monthly Leak Prone Pipe Status meetings and provides progress reports for review at meetings Provides appropriate contractor oversight and control in assigned area of responsibility by assuring appropriate use of company assets including controlling of costs, budget items, personal direct and indirect leadership, and fulfillment of organizational and personal goals and objectives Provides and maintains Operator Qualifications, technical support, training, onboarding, and supervision for internal and external (contractor) field personnel assigned to the department Responds to after-hours emergencies for gas odor calls and electric emergencies as a Supervisor-on-Call (when qualified and trained) and provides support for storm restoration efforts as needed Secondary Duties: As directed, acts on the behalf of District Service Supervisors (in their absence) Supervises the maintenance of designated facilities and equipment Maintains positive contacts with customers, contractors and municipal officials, including building code enforcement officers and inspection agency officials; utilizes contacts to provide timely and cost-effective service to customers to foster the highest levels of customer satisfaction and productivity Completes the Associate Service Supervisor Development Plan with milestone dates (to be provided) in order to progress to Service Supervisor What does it take to be an Associate Service Supervisor? Required: Associate’s degree in business administration, STEM or a related field and 3 years of related operational or technical supervisory experience. In lieu of an Associates Degree, a High School Diploma or equivalency degree and 5 years of related operational or technical supervisory experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Mechanical knowledge and/or the ability to learn job-related mechanical/technical information (e.g. gas utilization equipment, HVAC equipment, etc.) Ability to learn and articulate electric and gas installation codes and standards Ability to develop, schedule and coordinate training for contractors and/or employees and manage multiple projects daily; strong organization and planning skills Ability to analyze operational performance and make recommendations to implement productivity improvements Ability to multitask, juggle priorities, handle difficult situations, and use good judgment Must demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn, promote a strong work ethic, and be committed to a positive customer service approach Must be willing to respond to requests to work outside of normal work hours Valid driver’s license Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Management, or related field Experience and/or interest in the electric and gas utility industry Supervisory experience and/or experience directing logistical or field work Applications will be accepted until February 11, 2026.
