Genscript is seeking an Associate Scientist, Protein Purification for our Production team in Piscataway, NJ. The estimated salary range is $60,000 - $70,000, depending on experience. Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Protein Purification Associate Scientist to join our US Protein Department. This role involves executing downstream processing activities including protein purification, characterization, and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in protein purification techniques in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 1+ years of relevant experience in protein purification/characterization.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Piscataway, NJ.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AKTA systems and chromatography software is a strong plus.
  • Experience in a CRO or CDMO setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform protein purification using a variety of chromatography techniques such as affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, and hydrophobic interaction.
  • Prepare buffers and reagents following SOPs and project-specific protocols.
  • Characterize protein products using SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, UV spectroscopy, BCA assay, and other analytical methods.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of experimental procedures and results.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize purification protocols as needed to improve yield and purity.
  • Collaborate closely with upstream, analytical, and quality teams to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
  • Assist in the revision and creation of SOPs, batch records, and technical reports.
  • Support additional tasks and projects as assigned by the department supervisor.
